Leveraging your Diversity for Career Advancement

Diversity refers to all the ways we differ – whether that is our gender, age, experience, education, perspectives or family situation.  Diversity mainly bring some challenges or barriers at workplace but it may also bring creativity, opportunity and possibilities to careers and organizations.

On this upcoming April 7, Geowomen will host a noon  interactive session which will be led by Anne-Marie Pham, Diversity and Inclusion Expert. She will discuss barriers women faced in the workplace, what each person can do to leverage their diversity, increase their confidence, and network more effectively for change. We will engage you to think of how you can navigate your professional journey through the eyes of a female professional who made a bold career move by fully utilizing her diversity, passion and skill sets for positive change.  Come and join us in this free session to gain this important knowledge and skills to improve and develop your career advancement. Biography: Anne-Marie Pham

Anne-Marie Pham has worked with Calgary’s diverse communities for over 20 years. She has a deep understanding of issues and opportunities related to diversity, and endeavours to integrate diversity and inclusion principles in her daily practice. Anne-Marie was born in Vietnam and lived in France for 12 years before making Canada her permanent home. She has a master’s degree in public administration (MPA) and a BA in Sociology. She is currently the manager of Diversity and Employment Equity at Spectra Energy. From 2012 to August 2014, she led the City of Calgary’s corporate framework and 3-year action plan for ‘Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace’. Prior to her career in diversity, Anne-Marie co-founded a high-tech company called Techneos Systems, with a focus on developing global survey data collection technology for multiple mobile platforms.

Anne-Marie is currently a member of the KNOVO advisory committee and chair of KNOVO’s Corporate Recognition Committee. KNOVO, a major program initiative of the Calgary Council for Advanced Technology (CCAT), is funded by the Status of Women Canada to broaden the advancement of women’s participation in the digital business knowledge economy for better corporate decision-making outcomes.

Anne-Marie is a wife and mother of two, as well as an avid community engagement volunteer, supporting civic participation and community leadership development of immigrants, women and youth.
