Kathy Aulstead has 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Most recently, she held the position of Vice President Onshore Subsurface (US and Canada) at Murphy Oil Corporation based in Houston. She was responsible for all aspects of subsurface technical work, including geosciences as well as reservoir and production engineering.
Kathy worked for Shell, Encana, Burlington Resources, ConocoPhillips and a private start-up in Canada prior to joining Murphy in Calgary in 2012. She has held various roles throughout her career including Research and Development Geologist, Asset Manager, and Vice President of Exploration. She has diverse resource and conventional play experience, having broad technical skills that are combined with big picture thinking.
Kathy is recognized for mentoring and developing future leaders combined with strong communication skills at all levels. Kathy is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists (CSPG) and is licensed as a Professional Geologist with APEGA. She participated on the AAPG Grants in Aid Committee and chaired the CSPG Thesis Award Committee. She has authored and co-authored numerous technical papers on carbonate diagenesis and clastic depositional environments. Kathy received her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in geology from the University of Calgary.
